Isn't it three prescribed texts? We're doing three :|
Seriously? Maybe you just weren't listening...?
Anyway.
You may find that the top students don't actually memorise the entire essay per se - they memorise the techniques and composer's intent behind them. It makes them (and us)...
I completely agree with you :D and am in the same boat. The only thing I've written are emails to my teacher, lines that pop into my head and some vague notes in my journal.
As for everyone else... I'm sure you're stressed about it and everything, but it's kind of intimidating to come online...
In my class, the top General class, there are five Asian people. There are like five or six General classes though.
The 4U class has two non-Asian people.
In 3U English, there are now three of us, none of whom are Asian.
In 4U English, there is only one student (me) and I'm Aussie.
Hahaha. Thanks so much everyone, I pitched my idea to my teacher today and she's fallen in love with it - and apparently it's not so simple after all (proving my point that I'm turning into a stressed and insecure HSC monkey but that's another story) - so I'm good to go. Just gotta research...
Not necessarily. You could be asked in Section 1 to write a speech, memoirs, travelogues, journal entries etc etc, not just a narrative. The Modules paper could have you writing in interview, speech or report format, not just essay format. They might offer up a choice of which format to use...
Mine does. ESL, Funadmentals, Standard, Advanced. Extensions One and Two they only offer if they feel the student/s are up to it.
I'm half surprised and half not that some selective schools don't offer anything less than Advanced. What do they do with kids who come from overseas? Or people...
Oh God. I really, really, really wanted packet noodles this afternoon. Finally had them for dinner while the rest of my family had roast pork and vegies :) so to an outsider I probably looked six instead of sixteen.
Right now I would do practically anything for a giant bowl of salad. But...
Age: Sixteen and 49 weeks :)
School
Do you attend school? Yes
If not how do you spend your time? ...
Tafe/ University /workforce /unemployed
Do you know what career you want to do after school? Pretty much
Do you require a high UAI from your HSC? Not exactly - mid 80s, but I'd like...
I guess with a crime fiction piece you'd have no trouble linking it back to Extension 1 :)
But you'd have to really utilise and/or subvert all the conventions we've learned - it probably wouldn't work to just go in with a straight Golden Age / Hard-boiled story, unless it's incredibly super...
I have no idea until I go back on Wednesday and get my new timetable :| It'll probably be any of my English periods, or maybe Modern History as well due to awesome hilarious teacher.
Used to be my free period right before lunch - over an hour to walk down to the shops and eat lunch :haha:
Haha, in my prelim year I had one free period a fortnight: A Week Tuesday, period four. Thank God that I dropped Ancient which brought my total of frees up to ten a fortnight.
We have period zeros as well - the theory is that for every zero, you get a free BUT that is an outright lie...
Just one question to start... do you like purple? 'Cause that's what colour your prose is.
Adverbs are bad most of the time because they weaken the verbs. Sure it sounds all pretty and English-y but it disrupts your writing. Particularly "Autonomously" - of course you did it autonomously...
Hey everyone.
Here's my problem:
I don't exactly have an idea to work with for EE2. I've decided on a short story or series of short stories linked by a common theme. But my actual idea, which is secret since it's not thought-out yet, seems really too simplistic to use... particularly when...
Apparently the markers hate free verse. Hate hate hate. I'm not sure why, but it's there in the Notes from the Marking Centre over several years.
Probably best to avoid it... unless you're hyper-awesome at it already.
Do you actually like Design & Tech?
If not, because you have the reasons of finding it boring, it taking up too much time etc... I'd say drop it. You'll have extra free periods to spend on your other subjects / relaxing, whatever you do with free periods. :)
And about the "safety net"...
