    Omg Wat Should I Do???

Comp sci has a wider range of classes; maybe it's more interesting, but software eng teaches you something practical, at the least, that you can use in a programming job. It's good, because it makes programmers think in an engineer's mindset, so you focus on requirements and all that jazz, and...

Yep, that's the same thing. Though the email address isn't user@unimail.unsw.edu.au, it's user@student.unsw.edu.au. http://unimail.unsw.edu.au is the webmail interface. Then again, mabye the email is redirected to the user@student.unsw.edu.au one anyway. This is from a help page: edit -...

    Omg Wat Should I Do???

Hey, I think I saw you! Sorry I didn't say hello, I feel like a rude bastard now :). Do you ppl know anyone else going to the same degree? I ended up having a good chat afterwards to a guy sitting next to me. Yea, it was funny watching all the other engineering students leave the massive hall...

There's a Unimail account? I think we're talking about the same thing. What does your Unimail email address look like?

Yes, precision spotting ;-) Oh good. Hopefully there'll be notices about it. BTW, how do you setup your @student.unsw.edu.au email address, so that you can use webmail? I currently have it redirecting to a private POP account, but would rather use their webmail. I tried the webmail...

I was there, I asked a couple of questions at the end about the electives thing (I have short hair, and am european). Did you get my e-mail McLake? I sent you a photo. About the BDM thing, I haven't either, so don't stress out... I think lots of people are in the same position. I also have a...

Hehe, programming is just logic anyway. Once you learn a procedural and OO language well, you can transfer those skills between most languages. Javascript is a good start, I think the majority of people go from scripting languages to more complex ones. That's not to say that scripting can't be...

On another note, what do your timetables look like? Mine is a 5-dayer with a non-eventful Friday... I just want to make sure I'm not getting screwed and everyone else is having days off or something :)

That depends on what 'formal programming' means :-) I've messed around with lots of languages, but only concentrated enough to do some projects on a few of them.

    Evolution Of Programming Languages

Osmo, post your e-mail address and I'll send you my SDD notes from last year. I did Evolution of Programming Languages as well.

    Omg Wat Should I Do???

Ditto, though I didn't know it before reading this. I have the same classes as you, McLake. Isn't there also a conflicting schedule with two maths classes in the second semester? I can't remember the details but their times were running into each other and the enrolment guy that was helping...

Judging from the enrolment day, that must be around 5-10% of the people. Not too shabby :-) Are all you fellas in this thread already programmers and the like? I assume you'd have to be a computer geek to enrol into this degree with the IT market the way it is at the moment.

    I'm doing it as well.
