What's the best thing to eat for breakfast on an exam day??

My mom gets them for about $10 a dozen, it depends on what type of dougnuts you buy. We usually get 2 boxes (of a dozen) glazed dougnuts every 3 days, so I usually eat a few in the morning, exams or not. It helps me cope with the hell that is Year 12 and studying for the damn HSC...*eats a...

    Pax Romana??

emmma, you've got your definitions wrong. What you are referring to is pax deorum, which means 'peace with the gods'. Pax Romana means 'Roman peace'. If you are going to mention Pax Romana, you will need to refer to Augustus' policy of reducing the number of legions from 60 to 28 (it goes down...

    case study: the crusades

Our class has done all the different areas of debate, but my teacher has told us to do whatever suits us the best. I plan on doing motivations + aims & actions.

You don't know that. Some of the essays of the winners last year were a joke, seriously. I'm sure your essay owned, and you might even win...

Fellow Uni Hopefuls...HECS or Full Fee?

It's a new course, so I don't know yet. But when I visited Macquarie they said you'll probably need a UAI of 86+

Fellow Uni Hopefuls...HECS or Full Fee?

Yeah I put in prefs already, and I really want to get that Ancient History Honours at Macquarie. I'm not sure what you mean by the 'lowest UAI I can afford to get'. I put in a preference at UWS, so my lowest UAI goes to the 60s zone. I'm not sure if that is what you mean, though.

    HELP: Augustus Essay question

Some important things for Augustus that you could include is his Pax Romana policy and how he cut the amount of legions from 60 to 28 (went down to 25 after Teutoberg Forest incident in 9AD). This is very important when discussing his reforms. Most important: Historians!!! Make sure you use...

    How do I study??

Practice questions are good, but I arrange my notes according to the syllabus sheets we're given for each topic. That's how I know all my information in ancient by heart. When memorising sources, all I can say is paraphrase. Just understand your historians and their points of views, and...

Evil Ancient History Teachers! (click here to join support group)

Nah, wish I could support your anti-history teacher group but my ancient history teacher is awesome. He has a (in my opinion) good teaching style, gives a REASONABLE amount of encouragement and gives us good study notes. In other words, our teacher makes ancient very enjoyable and productive...

    Raw Mark For Band 5

It is impossible to tell at this point. In each year, you are compared to the rest of the students studying the subject, and your raw marks scaled accordingly. Just do your best, and you may even end up with Band 6.

    Slow writers

Finally! Another left hander! Yeah an I agree with your thing about expensive ink pens. They mess up my writing, as I found out the hard way in my half year exams. I tend to use the Pilot Retractable pens now, they make me write super fast for some reason, even though they're very thin.

Fellow Uni Hopefuls...HECS or Full Fee?

If I get a good UAI, I'll stick to HECS. If I mess up, then my parents are going to step in and pay full fees. So I have a bit of a safety margin.

    Slow writers

I agree with Dash, fat pens help for some reason. Also, I've found wiritng in medium sized letters helps me somewhat. And don't worry too much about the neatness of your writing, but make sure it can be read.

    Noooooooooooooooooooo!

*takes the hint and sighs* Don't worry, you'll be ok malayz_angel. Becausing stressing out is not a good idea for the HSC, you know. Just calm down, study, and you'll probably hit 90s for your UAI. Is that enough reassurance or do you want more?

now yr 12 is over, what was your fav subject?

My favourite subject was Ancient history, no contest. The subject kicked ass, and our teacher was cool. A close second would probably be Extension History. The subject I hated the most was my 2-unit maths, mainly because I am hopeless at maths. Good thing I do 12 units. I also disliked my...

Started My 8-10 Hour Study Day

9am to 9pm?! Damn, even with breaks that is a heck of a lot of study. My routine, which I started a week ago, is not as nearly as intense. I intend to go for 6 hours a day. I got it perfectly planned out at 3 subjects a day, 2 hours a subject. Then I have 1 hour breaks between subjects. It works...

    Noooooooooooooooooooo!

malayz_angel, calm down already. As long as you know your stuff on both subjects that fact that they are on the same day shouldn't make you freak out. My IPT and Ancient History exam is on the same day, and I'm not worried one bit because I've studied like the good little boy I am. So don't...
