The UNSW lady in charge of scholarships told me most of the money is reserved for rural entry students, ATO students and sports scholarships. Apparently they don't believe in bribing "smart" students to come, they'd rather they apply due to UNSW's reputation.
In 2003 they gave $6000 once off to anyone with 100. Somebody mentioned that they've changed that now.
Isn't it annoying how much 0.05 can mean? Should've worked harder for math, I suppose.
My mistake; that's NIDA down the front. So COFA's near St. Vinnie's? That's not too bad I guess, though getting to Town Hall later by bus can be painful. I've walked to Museum from there after clinical, but it wasn't fun.
I've enrolled in the drawing one...I didn't read the description of the...
Oh wait I just realised that timetables are going to change next block. Maybe the Tuesday 4 - 6'er isn't such a great idea. But what else am I going to do from 3 - 6? Study? Pfffffft yah right
Ok wait last question, I promise. Does summer semester 2005 mean the holiday we're on now, or...
Should have said that with a bit more conviction...I was nearly convinced there for a second...you just know I love hanging out with you, though. Don't need convincing there...
I'm not so interested in painting, but there's a drawing class on at the same time. Same location too I think. Just...
Lolling Out Loud (LOL)
Where's Yewon when you need her...I saw her post in a couple of gen-ed threads and I'd like her expert opinion because I really cannot be bothered digging through myUNSW to find what courses are available to suit our timetables.
YEWON THIS IS A PLEA FOR HELP PLZ PLZ...
Note how they didn't change it in the timetable...I could swear there was some bullshit discussion about how it wasn't all P&C enough for the faculty, but hey, it still reads "Endings" to me.
Looks like we still have some lovely 3/4 hour breaks, but C and D seem to bear the brunt of it. We...
Provisional timetables are out for 2nd year already, though it looks like a bleeding mess, so don't count on getting yours too soon. I'd think yours would be out closer to when uni starts.
We all have fixed timetables. There might be opportunities to change your scenario group sessions and...
Well I guess the source I got the info from may have been biased: she transferred to UNSW after 1 year in Newie med. Among many things she said:
i) They have a big board somewhere in the building where you go to check assignments etc. You don't even get official notice of exams/work, you have...
Was considering Melb for a while until I found out about it's course structure from an actual 1st year. It sounds even worse than ours. I know people whinge and bitch about UNSW a lot, but it's actually not that bad when compared to what I've heard about Melbourne/Newcastle.
Bob: We start going to the hospitals in the first week. We go once fortnightly for the first two years.
Fos: I don't know if they're going to use Clacy for every lecture. I reckon them running two different lectures concurrently, twice in a row is the most probable outcome. The shittiest...
Welcome to The Club
On the issue of splitting classes, I've "heard" that we keep half our current SGS and mix with the first years to fill up the spots.
I've also "heard" that they'll do two of the same lectures in a row to split us up. Don't know how that one is going to work though...
The ANU provisional entry scheme is a bit shonky IMO. You have to accept a place in ANU even before you've sat for their interview, meaning you could flunk it (the interview) but be stuck for a year in a university course you didn't want to do.
And what's your definition of a "better" doctor? Somebody who knows EVERYTHING in the textbooks but can't communicate with their patients? Surely that wasn't the reason cutoffs are no longer 99.75 and interviews were introduced, right?
I didn't say cramming for 4 days before an exam was the...
I agree with Keen the most here. While some med students practically live in the library, there are also quite a few who bludge for practically a whole "block" (that's 8 weeks in our course), cram in the last 4 days and pass the exams with flying colours.
I don't necessarily condone that sort...
