I think it's just where your background is, really. Maths makes no sense at all to me unless I read like five books on the philosophical concepts behind it in the first place. It <I>is</I> the same logic, and philo actually looks at it for the point of its depth, rather than simply proving the validity of arguments.Originally posted by KeypadSDM
I'm just commenting that philosophy logic is taught in a clumsy manner, it's fundamentally identical to mathematical logic, with one proviso: In maths you can prove that a statement is correct from axioms, and then use them in your argument. In philosophy, you can argue over the truth of statements that you're basing the argument on.
