I'm doing prelim Chemistry and we have an assessment task:

Plan an investigation that describes the effect of salt on the freezing point of water.

We have to plan the experiment and then perform it in class. But I am a bit confused - how can you test this with standard high school lab equipment?

Sorry if I sound like an idiot to all you brains, but help would be greatly appreciated.

You can probably set the freezer to a certain temperature like you may set the school freezer to a max of 10 degrees celcius, then zero and then - 10 if thats possible and see if the salt water will freeze.

You would have water with different concentrations of salt in each and of course a control i.e. water with no salt.
