Put whatever spin you wish on it, these dogs were bred to be aggressive killers, and I personally don't want such animals in my neighbourhood.

i think there's no way that 99.9% of pit bull owners are responsible. So many people train them as guard dogs. hence, being bred to attack.

This seems to be like an unecessary invasion of civil liberties. I don't think that it is necessary to kill off certain breeds of dogs within the state to protect human life. NSW is increasingly resembling a police state.

I do care about these dogs and i also care about the dogs owners.. But this definetely is related to government abuse of powers and over policing our private lives.

The NSW state government is Labor.
The Federal government is Liberal.
The Liberal government invaded Iraq, Labor opposed this move.
The Labor government introduced this law.

I thought that we weren't "killing them off" within the state, but making it compulsary to desex the dogs that are already owned, and not being able to buy or breed more purebreds in NSW. That's different from rounding up all pitbulls and having them destroyed, which is what "killing them off" implies to me. This new measure has a reason behind it - the reason being that this breed is too dangerous to have in suburbia. Individual dogs *are* individuals, and so temperment varies, but the breed as a whole were bred for killing.

To the owners who are just keeping a pitbull as a family pet, this law may seem harsh. (Most people in this category would probably already have their animals desexed, as it makes the animals more docile).

To parents of children who have been near-fatally attacked by these animals, it would probably seem about time.
