I have nothing against maths. It's only when people start saying lame jokes like "I want to square root you" that it's kind of of odd.

Mambomeg said:I do believe i never said anything about the intellegance levels of arts students, and considering that to get into arts law you need 99% plus, that would be a stupid somment to make.
However i do not have time to stand around handing out pamplets and it is my belief that people can find better things to do with their time than waste paper and piss people off by trying to force their views onto you. Its not just the USU ppl, its the election ppl, the EU ppl, the socialist ppl etc etc etc. Especially at 850 in the morning when i am running late to class thanks to the incompetence of city rail.
Heres a hint, if you are going to hand out pamphlets, at least put a recycling box 10 metres further along the path so there is not such a collosal waste of resources (which btw is funded by this wonderful USU). And dont stand in the fricking middle of the stairs!!!!!
It is my belief ( and i am entitled to have it) that the whole concept of handing out pamphlets and putting up posters is wasteful, inconsiderate and rude. You invade peoples space, make them go out of their way to avoid you, and spend hundreds of dollars putting up posters that get covered over by some other club or society 10 mins later anyway, and handing out pamphlets that get thrown in the bin.
And My fees fund this? I'm all for funding scholarships and tutoring and financial help for poor students etc etc etc, but pamphleteering is a big fat waste of time and money, and if VSU comes in and the pamphleteers dissappear i cant say i'll be at all dissappointed.
*end rant*
oh wait... not quite... to whoever said vets think they are all high and mighty etc etc... Thats a generalisation as bad as you whinging about ppl bagging arts students. At least in my rare spare time i do something useful, i do WIRES, and i work, and i make a contibution to my community. And yes it irks me when i see students (of any faculty) being lazy bludgers, who come to uni however many hours per week, and dont work, and spend all their free time lying on the grass, drinking etc.
I'm not saying all people who lie on the grass are lazy, but there are many ppl who ride off daddys purse strings, bludging through a degree and making no contibution to socitey at all. If people have more free time then they should spend more time volunteering or working, or doing something useful. Feel free to disagree, and argue that ppl who have more time should just bludge it away, but in my opinion, people like that have no place in civilised society.
Good work, asqy. Just because a lot of us do what we're passionate about doesn't mean we're less intelligent people, or more intelligent people for that matter.Asquithian said:@manbomeg
I believe the inference is that arts students are so low on the scale of humanity that it is ok to insult them in the street to their faces and then run away - for no other reason than for an afternoon hoot.
The application of your own sig to the situation may have been more appropriate.
Anyways that's just a repeat of what I said in an earlier post I deleted. It's just I said it in a nicer way this time.
according to your earlier logic...students in B Arts spend their spare time handing out pamhplets, lying on the grass and drinking beer. pffffs, you need to get your facts right. try interviewing every single arts students just to see what they do in their spare time, only THEN can you make a statement about what we do in our spare time.Mambomeg said:At least in my rare spare time i do something useful, i do WIRES, and i work, and i make a contibution to my community.

ahhh no thanks lolOlsen said:Lol. just join the USU board
wow I've never seen anyone considering that aspect of uni. In that respect you're quite unusual. Uni has no prerequisites that should be fulfilled in order for you to enjoy it or to 'fit in'. Just be yourselfleslie229 said:Umm... like all my fears have been verified hahaha
It's like if you don't have a political view you'l have nothing to talk about with the other uni students.
so should i start hating stuff or should i just go to western sydney?
bahahahaha. love, no one (ok i shouldnt generalise)...not many talk about politics with other uni students. during tutorials you talk about the topic of the subject, in between lectures u bitch about the weather, how tired you are, how hung over u are, or u perve on the cute boy/girl standing in front of u. ive never once talked about politics with other uni students, unless you count discussing why I was going to vote for Simon Fontana (and it was coz he's cute, not coz of his political campaign...even though that was pretty good too).leslie229 said:It's like if you don't have a political view you'l have nothing to talk about with the other uni students.
Only about 5% of the student population actually votes, hence that makes 95% of the population farily apolitical.leslie229 said:im sorry but if this new entry doesnt say theres a big strong political standing then i don't know what to believe
look all those bloody leaflets isn't that a HUGE waste of trees? that seems important.. not whether you care about john howard or not
You serious 5%? That's so sad but why are they making such a big fuss over itwithoutaface said:Only about 5% of the student population actually votes, hence that makes 95% of the population farily apolitical.
