now that was value for money,
at the time I bought it:
P4 2.4C 800/HT $353.50
got an extra 1GHz out of the chip, running at 3.4GHz now
burnt in, stable, running for a few months and she's sweet.

I don't really pay much attention to AMD (I don't see why I should), but I know that the P4 3.2 will out-perform an AMD XP3200+
