Times Higher Education ranks Deakin around the same as WSU. UTS is ranked a bit higher so maintaining a good GPA at UTS could be harder but not by that much I believe.
Since it's a Nitro 5, I would also assume it also has a good graphics card. It'll most likely be pretty good for both gaming and uni.
My Acer Aspire 5 from 2018 has similar specs, except for storage (which I'm assuming would be SSD) and graphics:

In terms of specs, the gaming laptop would have gaming specs, which are above what one needs for uni generally (except for maybe high-demanding courses). If you're studying a not-so-demanding course (mainly using Office), then the gaming laptop would be more than enough.

I'm pretty sure Computer Science/Commerce is more popular as in the degree itself. It would make sense that it also gives you more job opportunities as I really don't see how you would be able to use maths (although it's always great to be good at maths) in the IT domain. There are jobs which...
