Hmm.. I just drew a diagram.. (I didn't think I'd need one haha) but.. I realised if PQ is perpendicular to the tanget at R and you're trying to prove that the normal at R is parallel to PQ, then could you just say, because of the cointerior angles, the normal R must be parallel to PQ ?
Question: P(cp,c/p) and Q(cq,c/q) lie on the rectangular hyperbola xy=c^2. The chord PQ subtends a right angle at another point R (cr,c/r) on the hyperbola. Show that the normal at R is parallel to PQ.
I'm guessing the basic thing to was to find the gradients and prove they're equal.
I have...
Yeah, a friend mentioned that to me, but they said it didn't work out too well... I havn't tried it though.. I might try it now, but anyway, if anyone can think of a better way (with the solution) please go ahead and reply. My teacher also said try similar triangles...
P(asec@, btan@) lies on the hyperbola x^2/a^2 -y^2/b^2 = 1. The tangent at P meets the asymptotes at the point M and N. Show that PM = PN.
I basically tried getting the points M and N and using the distance formula.. but it ended up looking very ugly and inefficient.
So then towards the end of the year, I'm guessing they'll scale your marks up... That's what they do with our school - Highest mark gets scaled to 100% (bar a few subjects) and the rest are scaled accordingly.
Are those marks scaled or unscaled? If you'v done approximately 40% of your assessments, its really 20% overall, if that makes you feel any better, so you have another 80% of assessments to work with... Your Goal of 9x.xx uai seems achievable with the subjects you are doing... I've been checking...
Heh, I have a pretty good reputation at school with the teachers, I don't think they'd think I'd ever do that.
Cool Dandel, thanks... This is after the half yearly report though.. not straight after or even a few days after the exam :S
Ok, basically I got a shitty half yearly mark, and I think my marker marked me unfairly on one of my essays. I didn't ask about it before because one of my other teachers said that everyone else was marked like that, but after looking at my report, that doesn't seem to be the case. So I want to...
Yeah, so I finished my exams and I think I went pretty bad in my chem test and 3u test...
Chem test weighs 25% and 3u test weighs 10%
I think I passed the chem test but and I don't think the marks in the 3u test will matter too much considering its only 10%.
I'm trying to get a UAI...
