I just realized something about Physics Textbooks

Don't know about textbooks, but that dot-point summary can be found on the web at: http://www.hsc.csu.edu.au and follow the links to physics.

    help with Isotopes

Isotopes are forms of the same element with different numbers of neutrons (thus different mass number). Unstable isotopes emit radiation to achieve a more stable state. Nuclei can be unstable for 3 main reasons: 1. Too high a mass - elements with an atomic number > 92 (ie. elements above...

    Medical Physics - The Rayl.

Uh, no. Maybe its best to ignore the rayl entirely, and just use kg.m^-2^s-1

    Medical Physics - The Rayl.

To clear up some confusion: Many textbooks and internet resources are completely in disagreement when it comes to the meaning of the 'rayl.' Our physics teacher went off wading through stacks of resources in search of the true meaning. He found four definitions all up, however the clear...

    Einsteins thought expiremints.

"Trains and mirrors" could also be referring to the time dilation thought experiment - one light clock on the side of the tracks, one light clock on the train. I think the word experiments sorta implies you need to know both the simultaneity and the time dilation one. But only generally, I...

    dot point for medical physics

MRI uses the magnetic properties of hydrogen nuclei in scanning. Blood = fluid = mostly water = H2 O

    Just wonderin

It's cool. Plus it's pretty interesting, since our physics teacher is also a priest, and he's shown us all this stuff regarding the scientific evidence for the existense of God. Get this - there's at least 30 ways in which an extremely minute change to the physical constants would make life...

    4u maths VERSUS 3u maths

    Weird. That would really suck

    4u maths VERSUS 3u maths

Aside from a dead battery, or the after-effects of flinging your calculator across the room in despair, I can't think why a calculator would suddenly stop working in the middle of an exam.

    4u maths VERSUS 3u maths

Or you could just stick a new battery in before going into the exam.

    4u maths VERSUS 3u maths

Okay, 3U is good. Most of the work follows straight on from the 2U stuff (except evil binomial theorem... grrrr), and it is possible for me to understand the concepts. 4U is bad. Most of the work is detached from 2U and 3U. It has slowly driven me insane over the last year, and its only in...

    Module C: Telling the Truth

I just had a thought - that Simpson's episode, where Homer is mistakenly accused of sexual harassment and the media swarm all over him and beat up the story. "Now this technology is fairly new to me, but I'm pretty sure that's Homer Simpson in the oven, rotating slowly. His body temperature...

    Easiest 4U Topic

Volumes (aka easy integration) - 4 formulas to learn, easy application. Then integration, then mechanics.

    SPACE: mass dilation

It won't. That's the point, and that's why the speed of light is the ultimate speed limit of the universe (except maybe for tachyons). With the effects of mass dilation, it would take an infinite amount of energy to accelerate an object with mass up to light speed.

    SPACE: mass dilation

It also relates to the conservation of mass/energy - the extra mass due to mass dilation can't just appear out of nowhere. It has to come from the energy you put in to the system to accelerate it.

    ext 1...

And also in 2002. Our chemistry teacher was reading off the scalings of courses in 2002, and extension 1 was slightly higher for ext 2 students.

    ext 1...

3U scales higher for people doing 4U, but not by very much.
