    The First Kiss

My first kiss was pretty sweet considering the setting etc., as it was on a bench in front of the MCA in Circular Quay and we'd just walked across the harbour bridge from Milsons. Very romantic scenery, however I had no idea as to what to do so I named different kinds of fruit in my head.

    Trotsky Timeline...

I felt that Part 1 was a lot broader because it referred to his 'public' life in the period we have studied - so essentially it goes a bit before he joined the Bolsheviks with his organising various protests etc. and then after he was exiled for the last time when he continued to write...

    Individual in Society

I liked the exam - I could've said more in the essays etc., however opted not to compromise the ability to make sense :) My creative involved the picture in the way that it was my character's father (I decided to ignore that it was an anachronistic picture and pretend it was in the 19th...

How did you find the EE1 HSC Paper?

I liked it, although the stimulus for the Texts and Ways of Thinking Creative wasn't that great considering I was doing Individual and Society. I could have said a lot more in the essay, but decided to say what I could in the time limit without compromising my ability to write sentences that...

Link Database for writing & research

I heart nanowrimo. I like dabbling in it every november, but never hold any expectations to win :) BUT the guy who created the thing has written a book called "No plot? No problem!" which I've found in a few of the generic bookshops around sydney - it's fairly good, if you wanted to do...

    The Name

3k? Wow, I'm impressed. Well done! My title, "Into the Hoods", just came to me one day on the bus. My story was a contemporary adaptation of Hansel and Gretel, and the title just seemed to fit. Obviously it seems to echo the title of the musical "Into the Woods", but I'm sure that was...

    BOS Showcase: 2005 Major Works

bustinjustin - I loved it! Erudite, amusing and well-constructed - I enjoyed the first reading of "Artisanal", only to have it enhanced by your informative Reflection Statement upon my second reading. Well done!

Oh my journal. I have so many fond memories of it - I can't wait until they mail it back. You can make your journal however you want it to be, to reiterate glitterfairy - mine had lots of stuff stuck in it, lots of bright texta (happy colours made me want to write in it) and plenty of other...

Worst way of getting dumped.. or worst excuse for a break up

I was dumped once over MSN a while back when he was just about to start Year 12 and I was in Year 11. It went a bit like "I need to think of only one thing this year and it's going to have to be Year 12", describing how he needed to "knuckle down" on his studies. I understood completely but it...

Gwen Harwood dicussion - will be asked specific poem or not?

Text type - so in the question you get asked to write a feature article or a transcript etc. I believe that's what was referred to. We had to do a transcript in our trial -it's not too bad a text type, just avoid too much padding :) I think I had my people discuss tea over techniques.

    EE2 Marking

It kind of sucks that we won't get feedback. I'd like to know what they liked/didn't like etc. Obviously there's no way I could improve on it as it's a final mark... but still! I've grown quite fond of feedback.

Quiz to Make Yourself Feel Good About What You Have Achieved/Are Currently Achieving

Haha, looking at the check list - even though it's 2 years old - I do puff up from being a part of the cool ext 2 cohort. meanwhile, though this isn't the right place to ask - what do you do in your BA Creative Writing glitterfairy?

    Texts unknown to markers?

If the text is likely to be unknown by your markers, give (as someone said before) a quickly one-line summary of the piece, or at least establish what text type it is. E.g. Jim Crace's novel "Being Dead" or Luke Eve's short film "Australian Summer" - so they can at least understand what kind of...

    Supp Texts - Imaginative

I'm using Australian Summer directed by Luke Eve as one of my related texts. The other one is the children's novel The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Junster. They're both fantastic as related texts.

    Applied Research Project

Hey! I loved doing the ARP, so I hope that if you opt to do it that you enjoy it as well. Firstly, whichever IP you select to do will involve work. There is no IP that is 'easy' or easier than the others, and just because one may involve design, another performing and another writing...
