I think it's a useful process, that at it's core has a lot of benefits, but is also very heavily tied to a dangerously sexist framework, that can be ultimately damaging.

But saying this doesn't really help anyone. Pick-up (despite its grand flaws) is actually something you can implement.
Confidence is the problem, not the solution. You don't tell a homeless person "Well, you just need more money." They know. We know.
You can always take some time after HSC to work it out. Take a gap year or jump into a job to give something a go. You don't have to make up your mind immediately.

I've only just started working on the big musicals, because I'm working for a bigger theatre. But the one I was in before still had a lot of international works, just not huge musicals.
