No, because the UAI is a rank. However, the change from TERs to UAIs occurred in 1998, and UAIs are, in general, higher than the corresponding TER. This is because the UAI is a rank within the entire state age cohort (i.e. everyone who did the School Certificate two years ago, including those who didn't go on to complete Year 12) instead of just within the HSC cohort, which is what the TER was.Originally posted by da_best

The UAIs of students at the very top (99+) and towards the lower end of the scale (55-) are more likely to be 'blurred' due to the 'uniqueness' of their position, and the lack of more specific statistics.
