How do you know that 54x and 24/x are a and b?

If you tried any other combination other than 54x and u would get a negative inside the square root, making things alot more complicated. You can also see that the x's in 54x and will cancel each other out, if you use the AM/GM inequality.

It's just the name of the inequality that was proved in part i). If you chose to take extension 2 in yr 12, you will see and use it alot more.

they are a and b because they are the coeffs. of x and x^-1
