Stick with SDD; learn the stuff. It's actually fairly useless as a HSC subject, but once you get to uni, you'll realise you've already covered all of the design/documentation side of 1st year computing.
I reckon it was worth it. I can't say much for it as a scaler, though. I'm a pretty ace programmer but I only got 82 for the subject. I let my maths and English marks make my UAI (which I could afford to do, as I got band 6's in them).
But the point remains: ignoring marks, the stuff you learn in SDD is worth it - if you do some sort of IT course at uni; even engineering in general has some overlap on the design side.
