After NESA moderates your internal marks, is it usually much higher than your internal raw trials mark? From what I heard, nesa takes the schools aligned external marks, add them up, then distribute them within the cohort via ranks, so in theory it should be much / a little higher than your raw internal mark right?

I think they only use hsc marks. If you're 3rd in a course internally, for the "assessment" component, you will take the 3rd external hsc mark. So the "assessment" component isn't even related to your raw score in the trials besides the ranking you got, which is influenced by that place's hsc score.
