question about Mac's grading (1 Viewer)

Hi pplz, it's hittin me lately that Mac's dont give away 'D'/'HD' that easily . I did exceptionally well in my exams(just a few ) but managed to get marks in 70's. i talked to some good students and they hradly managed to get 'D''s . So, yes there's something , PPlz what do u think , do u feel like missing out on ur D's/HD's even coming real close to it after putting in all ur hard-work.

Students are graded according to their standardised mark, not their raw mark. The standardised marks for the different grades are:
HD High Distinction 85% - 100%
D Distinction 75% - 84%
Cr Credit 65% - 74%
P Pass 50% - 64%
PC Conceded Pass 45% - 49%
F Fail 0% - 44%
The raw grades are converted into standardised grades by computer to reflect percentages of students who are awarded HD, D, Cr, P, PC or F. The Senate recommended percentage distribution of grades is
High Distinction Distinction Credit
100 level 3% ± 2% 11% ± 5% 23% ± 5%
200 level 3% ± 2% 12% ± 4% 25% ± 5%
300 level 4% ± 2% 14% ± 4% 28% ± 5%
800 level 8% ± 2% 20% ± 10% 45% ± 15%
This means that in any class of say 20, at most one student can be awarded HD, and at most four can be awarded HD or D. We know that students work very hard to achieve HD or D, but only 10% to 20% can be awarded HD or D.
