Well you have to remember that one key aspect of German foreign policy, regardless of whether it was through the Weimar Republic or Nazi Germany, was for the revision of the Treaty of Versailles. The means to do so, however, were different- the politicians of the Weimar era attempted to do this through passive means.
They also attempted to establish Germany as a main player again on the European continent through diplomacy. This can seen when Stresemann was Foreign Minister, who was a good diplomat and negotiator.
Basically, his
three aims were to:
- end the diplomatic isolation of Germany in European and international affairs.
- revise the ToV. (esp. reparations)
- recover the lost territory in Eastern Europe under this Treaty through peaceful means (note how similar this is to Hitler's aims in
Mein Kampf and his later policy of
Lebensraum)
Main events of Weimar Foreign policy included:
- The Treaty of Rapallo (1922)
- the Locarno Treaty (1925)
- joining the League of Nations (1926; although most Germans were opposed to this)
- the Young and Dawes Plan
Can't seem to remember anything at the moment but I hope this helps.
