The ranks are not that great, besides we don't know how many people are in the group. You could come last and "rank 10th" will still good. (or coming 3rd, in a class with 3 kids, as an example).

That's what I'm thinking.

Look at maths, a mark of 8 gets this person a rank of 34.
My school has about 100+ doing 2U, and 8 will at least put you in the 95 to 100th ranking (last place).

Maybe there are 34-36 people doing maths.

the lowest mark at my school is around 30ish

Band 5, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2

Even the Band 2's (Biology and Religion) will be scaled back to Band 1's (less than 50%).

So you might end up with:

1x Band 5
5x Band 1

I believe so.
