Hey!!

Do you think the question for King Lear would be a general type of question? i.e., would they give you some themes and ask you how the production demonstrates it? or would they ask a general thing like along the meanings of "how does each prodcution represent different vewipoints of Lear" thing?

Although its difficult to see that far ahead :p, im preparing for anything in reagrds to Lear. The CSSA trial this year caught alot of us off-guard, meaning thorough knowledge of contexts supported with productions, characterisations etc.. As for the question itself, im leaning toward it being a specific question (eg: you are a "xyz", with reference to 2 scenes explore how/why shakespeare decides to do this, how contexts change etc..) .. pretty much just the usual.

From what I've heard, the Lear question is usually either a pain in the butt, or unexpected (because you were expecting a pain in the butt).

From past attempts, we know that logically trying to reason out what they're going to ask isn't all that successful. My advice is that you prepare for anything, and really try to *know* your text as much as possible.

ahh hell - it's so damn hard though.

i can barely remember who's who in the play... you reckon i'd be doing more harm than good if i learnt 3 or so scenes in detail using two different readings and just knowing the character of lear really well?
