most of the first uni maths you do are topics from ext 2 maths in high school. it'd probably be helpful if you learnt some ext 1 maths either by textbook or bridging course, but many people get by fine just by paying attention in lectures

your best option is probably doing a year at UWS or somewhere else with low uai cutoffs, and then transferring to a better uni like unsw or usyd after a year with good uni marks. if your uai isn't high enough for even UWS and you dont want to go to tafe, then maybe you could look at repeating...
you don't really need a laptop for uni. most people get by without one, and for those that do have one, it's probably at home 95% of the time. the uni has plenty of computers that you can use with all the programs you need.
that said, laptops cost probably the same amount as desktops these...
'work and safety' and 'hiv and other infectious diseases' (don't remember its exact name) are probably the easiest online courses. they both should be available over the summer. hiv is probably the easier out of the two to get good marks as 60% of the mark is from online discussions.
for most honours courses (at least in engineering anyway) first year subjects only count for 10% of your internal school mark
