I am in the exact same situation as you, and have coped basically exactly the same, as in, hasnt been too much work, but come exam time Ive been gettin bit stressed. My plan is to keep going til half yearlies, and then if there is a subject that i know won't count and i'm not really enjoyin it...

Ideally there is no effect. The only differences between schools are for the internal results (50% of hsc), whereas whatever mark each student from whatever school gets in each subject in the final hsc (the other 50%) is unaffected by public/private/selective school or whatever else. Then for...

english advanced has no effect on ext 1 or ext 2 as they are different subjects, and no subjects in the hsc can give you better/worse marks in other subjects. Also, if english advanced is your worst after scaling, then one unit of eng ext1 or 2 units of ext if you do 4 unit english, will count...

what uai are you aiming for? and what marks do you think you can potentially achieve for each subject? cos like Jachie and Tanjin said, general math has shocking scaling for marks below band 5, but are ok above. Modern history and german beg are also like that a bit.

well good luck with whatever you decide to do, are you considering just keeping 13 units for this term, seeing what the workload is like and seeing what each subject is like, so then in the hols you can decide what, if anything, to drop? That's what I'd do.
