haha you'll have a hard time working in a public hospitals path lab as a scientific officer because AIMS or the "unknown institute lol" accredits medical scientists in australia, the highest job you can get in a path lab without it is senior technical officer.
But yes you'll find a job with...
im a third year student of the medical science dagree at charles sturt with my major in pathology so im slightly bias toward good ol CSU, but if you wanna do medSci in a NSW uni i strongly advise you to do it at CSU or UTS because the other degree's are not accredited by the australian institue...
there really are very few jobs in wagga, remmeber its a uni town.
most of the people last year that had jobs had them because they put in for transfers from where ever they where working.
but that being said, nothing is impossible if you are determined, goodluck this year guys.
well a doctor (with just a straight MBBS) isnt going to go toe to toe with a PhD with a biomedical background, the only doctors that really do 'lab' research are the ones who pick up a BSci or a BmedSci anyhow.
and yes ill be the first to addmitte nurse clinical skills are awsome. but a...
as far as medical science goes, it seems to me that after we finish we have a 95% emplyment rate, considering in pathology departments alone there will be a few medical scientists, in every hospital in australia almost, then theres private clinics, then theres respriatory clinics, then theres...
ok iv done my first year out out south..ok its crap but the people rock..more than any other CSU facility..its nice to 'come home' after uni. each place has its charm...south is an amazingly social place..so its enjoyable...haha go where ever you can afford!!! you'll enjoy everywhere as much as...
I dissagree, im doing MedSci(pathology) we do have majors its just that medsci is a specific science degree, we concentrate on the science of medicine.
Any health degree will give you the knowledge to pass the GAMSAT, as it is more logical and ethical questions rather than anything specific, you cant really study for it.
haha im with you, 3 hour heamatology lectures..always fun.
and trust me there are cheaper and more productive 'character building' things you can do then rack up a few grand on your hecs bill.
and o yes as for the poor people who tried a SCIENCE degree thinking it was "fairly reasonable "...
am i the only one here who thinks that if you dont like maths/chemistry/physiology you SHOULD NOT!!! even think about a science degree....and as for 3 hour pracs ( o lord three hours of application) think about it, when you graduate chances are you'll be spending up to 8 hours in a lab on a...
Pharmacy in orange is EXACTLY the same as in wagga, it is the same cource, with the same bit of paper at the end.
Infact the head of the school of BioScience teaches in orange, but wagga is larger and perhaps has some better facilities
o i think i should mention that a transfer into...
Yep just finished my first year of the MedSci cource, basicly medsci, biotech, pharmacy and a few other cources have almost the exact same first year.

Hahaha im doing MedSci (its still science people) so im lucky i pretty much have my whole career mapped out, finish, join a pathology joint for a couple of years and depending on what my GPA is like apply for grad medicine or pharmacy or go into research.
A Bsc is a very versatile degree from...
Ok people im studying medical science so i better give you a heads up.
If you choose that pathology stream of medical science or a related biomed cource you are being trained to be a scientific officer.
that is you work blood, tissues, culture various stuff, you basicly do everything a...
well i for one am doing med science.
yes some people do it to gain access to grad med. but a med scientist is a fairly high demands profesion, you ususally work in a pathology lab actually doing the analyzing of a sample that the doctor has sent, you work blood types for transfusions and...
well i think ill be starting on goon and charming people into buying me beer lol.
you would be suprised how often the jedi hand trick works..maybe they just feel sorry for me
and every now and again i might get a shot of something stronger to balance myself out.
but goons not so bad if...
hahaha i got south.
my sister spent her 3 years there and she didnt seem to mind it so much. atleast its close to shops and such, and lots of room mates could be cool.
