I go to usyd and do comm/science. My majors in commerce are economics and finance and in science, financial mathematics and statistics. Pretty good combo.
From what I find, the finance in commerce is primarily theoretical work with a lot of judgement calls so the maths in science compliments...
Lol. There is still a few graphs that you study in macro, but I found it much easier.
Though towards the end, the graphs got much more difficult with a crap load of short run and long run graphs. And there is still demand and supply as well, but that was on currency rather than goods.
If you do well in semester 2 than it's likely that they would let you overload next year for that one unit. But if its a prerequisite for a second year unit than you would have to wait till semester 2 to be able to do that unit and thats provided that they offer it in semester 2. What unit is it?
If you wanted to overload just go to the economics home page and go to the form section. There should be an online form if you wanted to overload for a semester. However they take into considerations your semester results, so they might not let you overload.
I'm pretty sure you don't need to...
I still haven't made up my mind between the two. If finc2013 involves matrices then it'll be great seeing as I just learned about matrices last semester. And I'll also like if someone would contribute their two cents about finc2013.
And I didn't think the ECOS2001 lecture was awful. Not the...
You can request to overload next semester to make up for it, but if you failed 4 units it is highly unlikely that they will allow you to overload in semester 2.
Otherwise you can just try your best in semester 2 and summer school to get good marks and they might let you overload next year for...
If i could I would do more maths :). But I have to do 2 junior science units other than maths.
Thats a bonus. How many hours are required for the week?
Thanks for the input guys. But I'll pass on HPSC, essay writing is definately not one of my strong points.
What do you guys think about computational science or geoscience units? Are they difficult? And are they interesting?
Hey guys,
I have a need to kill off two first year science units and was wondering what you guys recommend. I've done the psyc1001 and psyc1002 already, and am hoping for a unit that does not require lab work.
Just a word of warning, if you choose the Lib Arts and Science degree be prepared to do 12 credit points worth of maths.
If maths isn't a strong point of yours I would recommend the Arts degree. I found that a considerable amount of students that did 3 unit maths found maths at uni quite...
Personally I found that the maths in Econ was pretty easy.
The only maths you need to know for first year and second year mico- and macroeconomics is basic algebra. Primarily substitution and differentiation. From what I found, most people struggled with understanding when to apply it rather...
Hey guys, I'm tossing up between doing either finc2012 or finc2013.
If you guys have done either one of those units before could you give me an idea of what to expect and which one I should pick?
Also what type of maths should i expect from finc2013?
Hey
I read your post about how you study financial mathematics and finance. I was wondering if you could provide some insight as to how your course is overall as i was planning to pursue the two majors as well but in b commerce (liberal).
Thanks
