It generally doesn't matter unless the edition asked for has specific content not found in others (e.g. for readings). One or two editions back should suffice for information gathering for assignments.
That's just personal experience btw.
Uni is what you make of it. Give yourself a week or two to get into the groove of things. The transition phase and uni life itself does take an emotional toll. You're not alone.

Yeah you do for lab practicals, they should be available at Connect Bookstore's on any campus. Also remember to wear enclosed toe shoe's otherwise you won't be able to participate in lab sessions.

If their both core's and meant to be taken in the same semester in the course plan then notify your head of program. If one of them is an elective/repeated unit, then email the unit co-ordinators to see if their nice enough to change it. Otherwise make do with sacrificing a hour of the lecture.

Sometimes separate lectures are meant to compliment each other, it all depends on the unit. Look under the "notes" for each timetable to see what the attendence requirements are. If all else fails then email the unit co-ordinator or just turn up to the earliest lecture. You'll soon realise...
