If you're gonna run PHP, I recommend getting WampServer (if you're on windows). It's a self-contained PHP, Perl and Java (I think) server that doesn't need any internet hosts and such. If you're on Mac, get Entropy PHP server and install it. The macs have built-in webservers (under "sharing")...
I upgraded our schools online detention system to include absent students. A friend did a game in GameMaker. One guy did a podcasty sorta thing with Ruby on Rails. A couple of guys did widgets (we run iMacs @ school). Two others built an online store for our clothing pool.
wow. I feel pretty lucky. We got to learn PHP and MYSQL (one guy did Ruby on Rails). No compatability issues there and there are heaps of forums and sites you can goto if something makes no sense.
Our teacher is awesome. He knows heaps about mysql (we did php and mysql) so whenever we have problems, it takes him about 20 seconds to fix them.
He is also the radio unit CO (we do cadets) of which i am a part of, and he again knows what he's doing. Probably the only guy I know that will...
Re: Muckup day ideas
My cousin last year glad-wrapped the principals car, chained ALL the gates shut the night before, and wrote "Yr 12 2006" on the oval with roundup.
One teacher at our school has a morris cooper car, so a couple of years ago, they stole it (six of them carried it across the...
We have a room with a sink and lockers and about 30 chairs. We regularly hold chair stacking competitions. And we don't get "free" periods. We have "study" periods under the hawk-like gaze of an active major in the army reserves. And all our laptops are randomly screen-checked by the guys in the...
2U math teacher: So you take the 3x and...
Us interupting: Uh... shouldn't that be a?
Teacher: Well. I teach math, not english.
And we had one science teacher who, no matter that it was in the same place every lesson, always tripped over the whiteboard.
D&T teacher: "No Mark, you're doing it...
Wow, you left it later than I did.

Could also do one of the other prescibed texts (movies).
Rabbit Proof Fence and Contact

50Hz is within the radio spectrum right? Get a long peice of wire in a coil, attatch it to an AC ammeter and see if you can get energy from the wiring in whatever room you're in. Another cool one is to hold a flourescent light next to a powerful radio antenna and watch it light up. (Wait, cant...
Close, but not quite. Microwaves have a higher frequency than radio (although technically microwave is part of the radio spectrum), and therefore a lower wavelength and higher energy. The difference between CDMA and Digital is more how they digitize the information. They're still relatively...
We had to do a poster representing a website discussing a poem. The best mark was a kid who did one up like a forum and had people discussing the poem's techniques.
lol. pretty much.
Check out the UNI guides and see what subjects are assumed knowledge, and which you have to have done. If a doctors degree requires math, get a tutor or somethin.
Don't plagiarise!
Me and a friend found this out the hard way and it was an honest mistake.
For a recent assesment task, we had to make a poster of a web page about a Wilfred Owen poem. We chose "Dulce et decorum est". Because my friend was a better writer than me, I did the visuals and he did...
