Lex answered it. Ishq asked if it was calculated on the basis of marks or grades, so he said it was marks as well as explaining what the acronym meant.
Hey, funnybunny, I'm stating my opinion about the UMAT because I've researched it extensively for months.
What I mean't by people who don't pass the UMAT shouldn't study medicine, is that there are more difficult tests than the UMAT in medical schools and if they can't pass a simple exam like...
Yeh, Biology should be a prerequisite, and it shows that the student has an interest in a subject relevant to medicine. Also, why don't many prospective medical students choose to study Pd/h/pe, it is related to medicine, so why aren't they interested in it if they're applying for medicine?
Another note I wanted to make, which is a bit irrelevant to the UMAT, is that medical graduates were surveyed some years ago at the university of Queensland, and 30% of the medical graduates said that if they could choose, they would have chosen not to study medicine.
How does the UMAT have any relevance to this topic?
The UMAT is fine by me, its a good indicator of the applicant's knowledge of important social and personal aspects of medical practice. Furthermore, empathy is critical to patient interaction so therefore it is one of the most important...
In response to the name of the article; it was obviously said to attract readers and goes on to say that a small amount of medical students or doctors failed parts of anatomy.
And in response to the introductory paragraph; it is a biased view that is also said to make readers continue reading...
Its strange that the medical students next year at UWS will be sharing the time spent studying at UWS Campbelltown and Liverpool TAFE...strange to have medical students at TAFE.
I emailed the executive assistant of the UWS School of Medicine and she told me the minimum UAI is 92. UMAT results depend on UAI, so if you got a UAI of 98 you'd probably need about a UMAT score of 170 - 180 to get an interview.
Hey Vizman. How difficult was it for you to get work experience at the hospital you got it at, did you know someone there or did you just apply independently?
Also what did you do in your work experience with the hospital? And could I do work experience with a GP in a medical practice?
A competitive UAI for medicine is 99.00. Even after you've completed some tertiary education I think it'll be difficult for you to gain entry into medicine.
On medstudentsonline.com go to getting into medicine > interview there is a website in the forum that has hundreds of questions.
Just curious what UAI did you get?
Hi,
What UAI and UMAT score do you think a person needs to gain entry into UWS MBBS for 2007?
Also how many applicants do you think there will be for next year?
