Anybody else familiar with this contemporary philospher? I just finished two of his books - Status Anxiety and How Proust Can Change Your Life.
Status Anxiety explored how notions of 'individual worth' have changed across the centuries, and possible responses to help us deal with feeling...
Having just received the yearly results slip, added to the bottom was a note about receiving a university prize for one of my units. Does anybody know if that's the extent of it, or does each faculty host some day where you are given something such as a certificate?
hey received a letter from usyd explaining how from 2006 we will only be able to choose units worth 6cpts. 3cpts and 8 cpts units won't exist.
what do u think the effect of this will be? senior units with less contact hours or less course content? or will things stay the same and it's just a...
Hi guys,
I only did 18cpts this semester, hence I'm abit behind schedule. Does anybody know if doing 28cpts in a semester would prove too much to handle? Perhaps if someone can speak from experience, I would appreciate it. It would be a combination of senior arts and junior commerce units...
Since we are in the Bush-sucks mood, here is an article about the "brains" behind Bush...Karl Rove...I have seen him....I expected someone much smaller

How did the christian-right in America manage to get such a strangle hold on the
'morality debate'?
The following bring out so-called "moral" Evangelicals:
anti-gay bigotry under the smoke screen of 'protecting marriage'
a desire to end freedom of reproductive choice
what about? -...
I hate to play into the conspiracy theorist arena, but I find something really troubling when they start to corporatise democracy. Putting your vote in the hands of partisan businesses like that Ohio-based Diebold who manufactured all the blackbox voting machines (something like 8million were...
Salut 'les débutants'!
I was one of you people last year doing beginners and had the massive luck to come première in the state. Apart from the chance to boast about this achievement (sadly noone at uni cares lol), I would also like to offer some of my material to people. Maybe it's too late...
A small sampling of the rhetoric spouted at this year's RNC.
Senator Zell Miller -
"Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more of the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier. And our soldiers don't just see freedom abroad, they...
Anyone seen this film? The trailer gives a completely wrong impression of what the film will be like...it wasn't heart-stopping stuff but there are moments which get you going - but rarely. For most of the movie the promise of 'horror' is set aside to focus on a love story.
Bryce Dallas...
hey peeps,
did anyone do INFS1000 in semester one? what were ur impressions of it and also can u go to the lecture time of ur choice? unlike econ for example where diff. streams had different exam papers etc.

Hi guys,
I will be doing intermediate french and just wanted to know who else will be pursuing french studies at usyd.
In addition, do you think some linguistics units will be a useful combination with french? Perhaps students who are already doing a language could provide some advice...
at usyd you get placed into a languages stream based on what you did in the hsc. at macq and unsw they make you do a placement test....i wonder why the difference? does this mean the other two might cater better to your level?
salut
i know that very few people do this exam.
A mon avis -
listening was reasonable.....abit much I felt and quite difficult compared to all the past papers I did. Reading and writing was interesting and quite simple.
Does anyone know how strong the languages department is at uws? Is it worth doing a language like french at uws in a B Arts or as an elective unit within something else like international business. they don't seem to promote their languages as much as other universities like unsw or syd. and...
