Heyyy.
Is it essential to have three body paragraphs in an essay? I know it's recommended but there is no way I can currently achieve a five paragraph essay in 30-40 mins of writing time, especially with my brain going in full haywire trying to remember textual quotations. I'm thinking of a...
The new English syllabus apparently involves grammar, punctuation and spelling. I guess the reliance on technology has called for such a change :spin: Some people excel in that area so I guess the new syllabus isn't completely bad- it's subjective I suppose.
I am currently completing an accelerated course for 2U Maths and have been going well, with around 90/100. My year 11 Maths Ext 1 marks are around 43/50 (hopefully it can be maintained for year 12)
My other subjects probably need fair improvements, but my teacher at one point encouraged me to...
Hey!
So we have two essays to write for Prelims and we're required to answer 'unseen' questions on our Prelim Area of Study and poetry texts. Memorising quotes aren't a problem but are there any tips for analysis? I've pointed out language features / techniques. Is there anything I can do to...
Hey! I know what you mean. Chemistry in itself is a challenging subject and when you continuously don't go well, it's hard to find determination. I was going through the same thing (only, it was Prelim) and I found studying a little bit every now and then actually helped. You don't have to do it...
Yeah, we've gotten our exam timetables too! It's only over a week and a day so... that's gonna be fun. Luckily mine are fairly spread out and I've got an early finish too :D
Good luck with studying though! I'm still trying to find the best approach to all my subjects.
Yeah, and to do well in SORII requires you to understand the syllabus and find contemporary relevance. Know how to write well structured, detailed and concise extended responses. Chemistry has come hard concepts to grasp but is really interesting. (This is all second hand info from the teachers...
Both Physics and Chemistry are hardcore subjects. I personally prefer Chemistry but there are a some hard concepts to grasp and I suppose that'd be the same with Physics (I don't do physics so I'm being bias).
Maybe look at 'The field of physics' and 'The field of Chemistry' to see what you'd...
My teachers have told me that 'Maths in Focus' is good for an introduction and through my own use of other textbooks, it is just that.
Other good books are:
Cambridge
Fitzpatrick (my recommendation; may be challenging but not as much as Cambridge)

The whole idea with balancing equations is to fulfil the Conservation of Matter - matter cannot be created or destroyed, only rearranged. In other words, the number of atoms on the left side (reactants) must be equal to the right side (products).
I think what can be difficult to initially...
