i did the equivalent unit last year, and the screening for that weren't compulsory (although some were very interesting).
they're mostly historical films and documentaries.
i saw both of those guys!
as well as a couple of morning suits- its good to put a bit of extra effort in
(i say that, i was hanging out with 3 suits wearing jeans and a t- shirt)
I can cope with them trying to give me leaflets and stuff, and i quite like the sudoku's, but the thing that really annoys me is when, after you've voted and have the sticker to say so, they still try and campaign to you.
its also quite fun map you're path according to where they are, i was...
i've got a few of them, but i'd have to say that a clockwork orange is the best.
i just got high fidelity, and will get round to reading it soon- i hope its good
i did it in second sem last yr.
it pretty good, we had 3 lecturers, and all of them knew their stuff pretty well, it wasn't too hard (no epically long essays or anything), and for the most part it was quite interesting.
you don't really need any prior knowledge, so i don't think that not...
whats the name of the textbook?
its just that i did SPAN1601 last year, and i still have my main textbook, it's got a fair bit of writing in it, but it's still good...
I don't think it cost anywhere near $200 though.

i personally found Hobb's books a bit depressing, but thats just me.
i don't know if anyone else has heard of these, but i'd recommend "The Chronicles of Prydain" by Lloyd Alexander. i last read them when i was in about yr 9, but they were really good.
I'm always it that situation, what i do, is wait until 3 days before its due, do all my research frantically, and use the fact that when I'm writing it its usually due the next day as a motivator
probably doesn't help in your position though. Gee I'm a horrible poster
