Yes you can definitely use the first person even in essays. It strengthens your argument to specify your own personal reading and this is best achieved if you use 'I' The markers commented last year that the best responses used personal pronouns and compared/contrasted their own interpretation...

i filled a booklet for creative, one booklet plus two pages for the essay and for the reading i started a new page for each question so maybe 3/4 of a booklet pretty happy hoping for more than 40/45
