Since the guy in the office next to me is sending out the emails, I think you should be getting (have gotten) the emails this week. Better have, cos I'll be teaching you on the 22nd :)
PhD
In most areas, yeah, a book. But these days it can be a series of articles. My PhD thesis was only about 120 pages, including tables and stuff.
If you do fine arts, you could do videos. A friend of mine is doing something like that but .... you've still got to contribute to knowledge...
Sad/happy/aarghhh
(Yeah, I figured you must've had nothing to do.)
Thanks, I've put them up on my blog. God I've got a sad life ... hang on, if I don't have time to update my blog, that mustmean I _don't_ have a sad life :-)
RobC (Time to do some work now, I guess. It's almost Monday)
Thx!
Hey not-that-bright, thx for the rehashed photos. Awesome, will stickem on my blog if you don't mind. BTW, what was that Family Scoff thing? I don't get the reference (which is reasonable, wot wiv me bein' all old and stuff).
Not sure if you've seen . Fullsize one's on my blog...
Accounting - yeah, don't say it, I know :-| . But they're making me teach postgrad this semester, which is fine - I might manage to get to do the oddundergrad lecture here or there.

Thought so. That's OK then, I'll just see if I can drag some academics along for the odd drink - if I can find any non-boring ones at USyd :-)
Have a good year!

Coming to USyd
Last time I started at a Uni, I went to all the o-week shit and it was cool, esp. the pub-crawls. Point is, I have now changed jobs and will be starting as an academic at USyd. You think a 41 year old academic (no matter how cool) turning up at O-week functions might be just that...
Oh thankyou, but sucking up is really unnecessary, as I have no way of finding out who you are. So do your worst ... I'm ready :-)
RobertC (acct1501 lecturer)
Depends on the subject. But yeah, we run a Just In Time process for this :) Basically, this means that the Uni is pretty slow telling us how many students we'll have, so we don't know numbers till about now. e.g. on Friday, AFM1A was 176. Today, it was 206. You never now.
However, we do...
Ah yes, but did I ever say I supported the American system,e specially under Bush? Don't think so. Give me parliamentary democracy over presidential democracy any day (and even that's nowehere near perfect, but it's better than a dictatorship).
