There are designated stand down periods, but because the gap year involves roughly 6 months of training you might only see one or two of these. that isnt to say you cant apply for leave.. all of the guys i know havent, but we've managed 2-3 weeks off granted. there is an option to take any extra...
dont bet on taking the whole 4 weeks of leave in your year.
and things must have changed because i know for a fact that us guys right now can be deployed be if something came up and we are on rcg.
to smash the interview.. know everything on the job description thats on the net aswell as being able to describe details to a greater extent and know how stuff will affect you.
they will let you know how you go on your assesment day. youll get a call sometime later about enlistment date tho.
just know everything you can about the job your applying for and why you want to do it..
i joined the army as a Rifleman in the RAINF. i had previously completed a year of university and got bored with it.. engineering..
it depends what you want to do. i always wanted to join n this made it easier for me..
if you really want to give it a go and youve looked right into it, then...
im about 9-10 months through the gap year, was in the first intake..
in that time ive been home for about 2 weeks. its a pretty busy year if your gonna do it, but worth it if your keen. and yeah the main aim of it is to get you to sign on for 4 years.
i can help if anyones got q's.
cheers
