Best thing to do is to email (or call) someone in the faculty and ask. They will either let you know, or find out for you. You may be able to defer your first semester, but if you do that you should check in your handbook what courses need what prerequisites.

A friend of mine got her chem mark back, which was a lot lower than she expected it to be. Is there a way she could get her marks rechecked?
It depends on which university you're applying to. They have different selection criteria, which also take into account how many full semesters of university you've studied.
For example, if you've done one full year of university, UNSW gives your ENTER half weighting with your university...
Law is difficult to get higher marks in, at the same time being a lot of work. But if you choose a good degree to combine it with, your marks should be ok.
I'm not sure how the combined law degrees work at UQ, but at Usyd, it's mainly the other degree that is studied during the first three...
