In my trials I wrote 19 pages all up for Section II and III. I was pretty happy with that. My hand was killing me though. I averaged about 5-7. This felt like a sufficient amount for me to show my knowledge and answer the question in a fairly succinct manner.
Along with what others have said, consider taking some throat menthols with something to numb in them. This takes off the edge off of having tonsillitis.

I don't talk to myself when I study, but recently I've started reading aloud when I read books. It helps me focus on the story, plus I like the sound of my voice and I like practicing clear pronunciation while I study.
