isn't it fair to say though that intelligent people in general are more socially liberal? economic issues have more grey/contentious issues as opposed to just being like religious nuts/old ppl hating things for no good reason plus more ppl are apathetic about whether the government should...

only the most brilliant ppl do physics teaching (lol, not rly...) and about half of the teachers out there teaching physics never did it at uni so maybe there's something there...

they're making hsc maths multiple choice because high school is all about preparing you for real life & tertiary studies when you're faced with a tough problem requiring clever use of analytical skills in real life, e.g. in the workforce, your boss will always prepare the completed task for you...
