this is also in the faq section - bring a laptp if you can afford one, i doubt with law you would have diagrams so it would be pretty useful. Also you get wireless interenet in most lecture halls. Be warned if you dont have self control you will get distracted with a laptop

As per above, but it really depends what subjects you're doing. If your course has heaps of people, you're very likely to get a 2nd hand textbook from older year students. In a smaller faculty, it becomes a bit more of a challenge.

it's $300 a week, not $1000 - tbh i reckon you get pretty good value. I wouldn't put a price on your first year uni experience.
