I sometimes wonder why you guys bother, because it is such a selfless thing to do - but it helps so many of us so much.

I guess there's always a tiny element of luck when your artwork is marked subjectively rather than based on strong set criteria, so one examiner may completely miss the point of your work and give it no merit, whereas another examiner may of found it to be a masterpiece and worthy of art express.

I know exactly what you mean. Every idea i had i'd stop and think "but what will the examiners think... what if they don't like it... or don't get it..." and it scared me off doing anything. I know that was the wrong approach so i'm trying not to think about it, but it's always there at the back...

I've got exams tomorrow (eeek) and i'm deciding whether to stay up really late cramming every bit of knowledge i can, or to go to bed early and get a good night's sleep. In some so called "dumb" schools, or my school anyway, no one places any value on coming 1st. So really, it's not much of a confidence booster or feel-good achievement as you would think. People don't take the HSC seriously, they don't even know their own rankings let alone care about yours...

I'm half way through mine, i've only got the essay to go. It's on Fundamentalist beliefs in Creation, Genesis etc VS the scientific view of Evolution. It's always been a heavily debated topic so there's so much info on it.

How discouraging. If i come 1st in ranking, does that help minimise all the bad scaling? Or is it basically a lost cause.
