i came first at school, but i wasn't in the top 10 in the state cos i checked the list put out by the board of studies on their web site um, i got 96, so it's prolly possible to work out my percentile from the stats :)

d/dx {|f(x)|} = f'(x) * f(x) / abs(f(x)) the f(x) / abs(f(x)) takes into account the sign change so d/dx {|x|} = x / |x|

i dunno, i bought the ed assist notes last year, and they were completely hopeless, for both mafs and phys i can't imagine the lectures are any better ;) you're better off grabbing some notes from the plethora of posts on bos

hmm about the question about the undeflected electron... suppose we have two wires carrying the same current in the same direction. at a point midway between the two wires, the net magnetic field due to the two wires is zero. hence, the electron/charged particle does not deflect. although...
