I heard about a program for the first year subject Statics. It helps you study in groups and make mates if you like.
Has anyone gone? i'm interested....
:headbang:just go straight for maths mod 1, its pretty easy mate. the resources and lecturer are awesome, if you fail this no offense but you probs shouldnt be doing engineering....
just put your head down and put the hours in for the study and you'll be right...
good luck~!
thanks mate, you kinda helped me out. it seems alot easier than expected. its just i got to tutor some kid and he's asking about field diagrams, i was just stressing thinking there is some fancy way of calculating the area of a block od land lol.
cheers ;)
Mate, you dont use applications of calculus in the prelim course for general maths, if you dont understand dont reply. That is clearly the mathematics course (2U)....
Ladies,
I'm a 3rd year now, this year as a Civil student at UTS. Defs, consider it as a serious career path. there are so many support networks for females its not funny. Dont worry about immature teenage boys and stereotypes, its only for one year of your life to put up with it.
At UTS...
In the Measurement topic for the Prelim course there is a section on "Applications of area and Volume" one thing you have to do is use a "field diagram" to calculate the area of irregular shaped blocks of land
How do you do this, i have no idea, please help!!!

Hey guys,
I'm trying to get my head around field diagrams. I have made a switch from Mathematics to General and I don't know where to start. Can someone help me, if you can give me examples or just a generalised explaination to what field dagrams are that would be great.

it will increase, kids are getting the picture that engineering esp civil is in a shortage. for e.g. i just finished my first year and my tutors were saying that they had problems finding places for civil kids this year cos there was such a big intake. so yep, i'm sure the UAI will increase due...
dude i just finished first year. apparently Civil engineering was filled this year and they had problems fitting classes (thats what some of my tutors said). so yeah your screwed if your not going to get around AT LEAST 80 cos i'm sure the UAI cut off will be higher this year.
always express these as indices so u can apply the chain rule when your differentiating.\
The two cases with roots so to speak is:
The first example with 1 as the numerator and some freaky root expression on the denominator. E.G. square root of (x - 5) I would do these by expressing the deno...
