I was just wondering though if doing the specialised BEco degree has any advantage of over the BComm with major in eco... because they end up being virtually the same units (maybe one different compulsory unit?).

I don't think an employer is going to care which of the two unis you came from, as their content and standards are pretty much the same.
I chose monash out of the two after sitting in on a couple of lectures at each uni. Campus life is a bit more fun at Monash. You should check out the campuses...
