I would recommend Cheshire & Fifoot as well. Our only prescribed book for contracts is Ellinghaus's Australian Cases on Contract which, while being handy, requires far too much analysis to get each principle out of each case. Cheshire makes contracts bearable.

Watch that gap year. I've seen so many people struggle to return after taking a break. I would recommend going part time instead of taking a year off ... even if its just 10 units per semester, it keeps you in the groove. All enrolled for grad law ...

Except in five years time that architect who started on 30k will be pushing 50k, or maybe 60k if they are lucky. You don't study architecture for the money, you do it cause you love it.

A few observations about architecture. Like with any job, its possible to earn a lot of money, but: 1) Architects have one of, if not the lowest starting average wage for graduates. I have friends who maintained a GPA of 6 throughout their 5 years who are on $30k. The majority are on $32 -...

Its pretty high, Newcastle has about 98% employment after three months of graduation. I think its pretty similar at most unis. Finding jobs, at least in this economic climate, isn't that bad at all. That said, salary rates are another matter altogether, most of the time you're better off working...

I notice Newcastle never gets a mention in any law school discussions, does it fly under the radar, or is it so bad it doesn't even rate a mention?

I've watched Newcastle go from one of top architecture schools in the country, to, in my opinion, being the worst. Tute groups have doubled in size (17 - 20 people for a design tute DOES NOT WORK), support staff have disapeared, the move away from problem based learning to standard teaching...

Friends don't let friends study architecture ... especially at Newcastle. I might get around to doing a proper reply after I catch up on some sleep, something us architecture students only get to do once a week at best. The highwayman is pretty much right. Shit pay, shit work, shit...

It's not that bad, just not exactly that good either. The reality is that architecture, especially once you venture into the workforce, isn't a very rewarding or pleasant place to be. But then, this could be said for many different professions.

Actually, I'm more accustomed to the post-war Japanese influenced George Nelson benches, with natural ash timber panels supported by a black varnished ash base. The lack of bolts on the surface is a feature utilised throughout Nelson's collection, which results in a far more comfortable nights...
